My treatment specialization in individual therapy includes: depression, anxiety, grief & loss, relationship issues, coping skills, self-esteem issues, parenting, and divorce recovery. In individual counseling, I provide a comfortable and supportive atmosphere. My goal is to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my clients' individual needs to help attain the personal growth they’re striving for.
I also specialize in relationship counseling. I am a Gottman trained relationship counselor. The Gottman Method for relationship therapy is a research based approach. It begins with an assessment process consisting of individual interviews and online assessments designed to provide partners with feedback regarding their relationship. From there, I tailor an individualized treatment plan based on the clients' needs. The goal of Gottman Method therapy is to increase intimacy, respect, and affection while decreasing conflict (and learning how to have more effective conflict). My job is to help clients uncover the root of the conflict, identify any issues that keep them stuck in negative patterns, and learn more effective ways of managing conflict.
Sometimes clients choose to schedule sessions longer than one hour in length. This more intensive therapy sessions are typically 2 - 4 hours in length and can be more effective than traditional one hour sessions because we are able to cover much more ground per session.
Relationship counseling is designed for people who are both willing to attend and commit to making changes in the relationship. I have completed the following Gottman training: Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 (Practicum), Treating Affairs and Trauma, Working with Complex Couples, and The 7 Principles for Making a Marriage Work.
I am not trained to work with, nor do Gottman Methods support counseling clients where domestic violence, serious drug/alcohol addiction, or abuse is present. Therefore, clients with these needs will be referred to appropriate resources within the community.
I am also a sex positive therapist and in training to become a certified sex therapist. Sex therapy is a specialized type of therapy that addresses concerns about sexual function, sexual health, and sexual feelings and intimacy, either in individual therapy or relationship therapy with your partner. I offer these services in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am currently only seeing clients via telehealth sessions. Telehealth sessions are a secure and convenient way to meet with a therapist in the comfort and privacy of your office or home office. In order to have the best session possible, I ask that you use a desktop or laptop computer with a strong internet connection for these sessions.
