Meet Andrew Wood, Masters Level Intern

I’m Andrew Wood, a Masters Level Intern on the path toward full licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Texas. I earned my undergraduate degree in Social Sciences from the University of North Texas and later received my Master’s in Education. After many years of teaching, I realized my true passion lies in helping individuals, couples, and families heal and grow in ways that feel authentic and meaningful. I’m currently completing my practicum as part of my graduate program, gaining hands-on experience in the field of therapy.

I provide a compassionate, affirming, and nonjudgmental space for clients from all walks of life. My areas of focus include supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and couples as they navigate religious trauma, intimacy challenges, infidelity, family acceptance, and the lingering effects of rejection or lack of support. I am kink-friendly, religion affirming, and committed to being a safe, inclusive space for those who have often felt misunderstood. I’m also currently completing Gottman Level 1 and 2 training, as well as specialized coursework on treating affairs and trauma within relationships.

In my work, I believe in meeting you exactly where you are. While I don’t bring religion into the therapy room, I welcome and respect the beliefs you choose to share as part of your healing journey. My approach is collaborative and client-centered, emphasizing the importance of creating a space where you feel seen, heard, and validated.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy gardening, relaxing with my spouse and our beloved pets, and spending time with friends whether it’s over a new board game, an engaging Dungeons & Dragons session, or a good video game. I’ve been with my husband for seven years and married for five; he is also a Masters Level Intern working toward LPC licensure, and together we share a deep commitment to helping others.

My ultimate goal as a therapist is to walk alongside you as clients, as you reclaim your sense of self, strengthen and build upon your relationships, and move toward the lives you want to enhance or make new.
